Are you interested in Lleyn Sheep? How about joining the North Wales Lleyn Breeders Club? The enjoyable and social way to celebrate this fabulous breed.

Please find below some dates for 2013:

January 11 th : Annual Dinner (a late Christmas doo!)

A social event to include presentation of cups and trophies.

Cups will be awarded for highest number of points gained at various North Wales shows.

Trophies will also be awarded to Flock competition winners

May/June: Farm Visit.

Meeting at a local pub for lunch followed by a farm visit. A great way to see how Lleyn sheep are managed as part of different farming systems.

•  - Visit to be arranged.

July 13 th : North Wales Lleyn Club Show, to be held at Ruthin Auction. There will be classes for Aged Ram, Yearling Ram, Ram Lamb, Aged Ewe, Yearling Ewe, Ewe Lamb, Group of Three, Pen of 5 Yearling ewes, Pen of 5 Ewe lambs and Pair of Butchers Lambs. There will also be the addition of a new class for 2013: Fleece of wool. Judge will advise on presenting wool for showing and other relevant topics.

July 2013: North Wales Club members will display Lleyn sheep at NSA stand at Royal Welsh Show.

September: North Wales Club is responsible for the show on Sunday before the

Sale at Ruthin Auction. A great opportunity to see the best of the breed.

Oct / Nov: Annual General Meeting. All members welcomed to contribute to Club ideas and agenda for following year. An opportunity to socialise and enjoy a meal with fellow like minded Lleyn breeders.

Oct/ Nov: The Lleyn Sheep Flock competition will be judged.

Class 1: Small flock (up to 100 Lleyn ewes)

Class 2: Large Flock (over 100 Lleyn ewes)

Membership is £10 annually.

Lleyn sheep originate from the Lleyn peninsula in Wales and until recently were a relatively unfamiliar breed of sheep in the UK.
Over the past 10 years the Lleyn breed has caught the eye of many farmers, and now Lleyn sheep can be found almost all over Britain & Ireland. Farmers soon find that the Lleyn is an ideal ewe, quiet in nature, prolific, has great maternal instincts, milky & will not eat you out of house and home. The Lleyn fits in to many situations and its versatility suits both lowland and upland grazing.
