Supporting Lleyn Breeders in the South West of England
Chairman: Dudley Shellard
Vice Chairman: David Stacey
Treasurer: Gill Adams
Secretary: Cathy Evans
Promotion Officer: John Adams

The West Country Club is extremely active. We have 4 or 5 meetings a year, and our Annual Dinner:
. Veterinary talks and discussions
. Ewe lamb selection workshops
. Ram production workshops
. Showing workshops
. Farm Walks and Open Days
. Visits to leading breeders in other parts of the Country.

Membership of the Club allows you to get to know fellow Lleyn breeders in the area. There is plenty of friendly help and support when you need it and you can keep up to date through the newsletters we send out regularly throughout the year.

For those interested in showing, there are eight local shows with Lleyn Classes:
. Devon County
. Bath & West
. Royal Cornwall
. Dorset County
. Launceston
. Woolsery
. North Devon
. Okehampton.

Finally, the Annual Society SW Sale of Lleyn Sheep is held at Exeter Livestock Centre at the end of August each year. The evening before the Sale we have a pre-Sale Show, hosted by the Club, and with a West Country Buffet.

Why not join the Club? If you have Lleyns in our area, membership is a must! And it only costs £10 per person per year. Just send a cheque (made out to West Country Lleyn Sheep Breeders Club) to our Treasurer to become a member. (Gill Adams, Little Treviles, Ruan Highlanes, Truro, Cornwall, TR2 5NR.)

Sunday 15th July

Mrs S.P. Sayers, Flock 284

Carswell Tor, Holbeton, Plymouth , Devon PL8 1HL. 2pm

Carwsell Farm, has an incomparable setting on the beautiful South Devon coast. The Carswell Flock of Lleyn sheep was established there almost 30 years ago and has set quality standards ever since. Visitors won't fail to be impressed by the fine example of Lleyn ewes doing what they do best, rearing twins on less-than-perfect land and producing fine pedigree breeding stock and prime butchers' lamb. A very welcome is extended to everyone interested in Lleyn sheep by Mrs Pel Sayers and shepherd Peter Honey.

Cyfieithiad CymraegWelsh Welcome
Lleyn sheep originate from the Lleyn peninsula in Wales and until recently were a relatively unfamiliar breed of sheep in the UK.
Over the past 10 years the Lleyn breed has caught the eye of many farmers, and now Lleyn sheep can be found almost all over Britain & Ireland. Farmers soon find that the Lleyn is an ideal ewe, quiet in nature, prolific, has great maternal instincts, milky & will not eat you out of house and home. The Lleyn fits in to many situations and its versatility suits both lowland and upland grazing.
